The Research Center for Criminal Law and Criminal Sciences, through the Research Group Law in Analysis – Workshop on Anthropology, History, and Sociology of Legal Practices and Representations, is organizing the 6th Luso-Hispanic Meeting of Legal Historians, on July 2 and 3, 2026, under the general theme “Norm(s), Deviance(s), and Judgment(s).”
Since its inception in 2015, the Meetings aim to strengthen the community of legal historians who work professionally or develop their training in Spanish and Portuguese universities, especially those who have recently entered academic life. The participation of all colleague legal historians who maintain a permanent or temporary link with a university in either country, whether as a professor, researcher, or graduate student, will be welcome. As approved at the V Meeting held in Salamanca, participation from associate professors (or equivalent positions) will be admitted only in the first five years after being appointed to the position.
Like the previous editions, the working languages will be Portuguese and Spanish, and both thematic panel proposals and individual proposals will be considered. The submission of panel proposals must include a title, an abstract, the name of a coordinator, the names of participants (3 to 4 people), and their affiliated institutions. Individual proposals must include the name of the proposer, academic affiliation (PhD candidate, associate professor, research assistant, collaborator, etc.), the title and abstract of the proposal, as well as the email address.
Proposals must be submitted by March 31, 2026, to EHLHD2026@fd.ulisboa.pt, using the panel submission or individual communication forms.
